COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Food Pantry:

The Good Shepherd Food Pantry goes back to Bishop Whipple’s wife, Cornelia. In 1883, Good Shepherd was helping the Seminole neighbors in Eatonville. On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, from 9:00 to 11:00, the Food bank distributes food and hygiene items to all who are in need. In an emergency, bags of food are always available whenever our office is open, usually Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Tabitha’s Treasures:

This ministry meets in the Prayer Room on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:30 am. They knit, crochet or loom chemo caps and prayer shawls that are then blessed during Sunday services and are distributed to hospital and chemo centers.

Good Shepherd Academy:

The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd supports the Good Shepherd Academy in Juba, South Sudan, with prayer and some financial assistance. The school is run by Fr. John Daau and has about 500 students enrolled in kindergarted through 7th grade.

Angel Tree:

Each Advent, The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd collects toys and other gifts for children who will otherwise go without. Gifts are distributed mostly through the OCPS social workers.

Pet Blessings:

In October each year, a Pet Blessing is held in the courtyard.
